Datchet Dashers Marathon Training Run and VLM Coach

London marathon runners, Datchet Dashers, have a 20m training run, with marshals and drink stations if anyone would like to join in, see below for more info. Also transport available from their clubhouse to the marathon on the day.  Thanks to Joe Nolan for forwarding this to us.

Marathon 20 Mile Training Run – Sunday March 18th

On Sunday March 18th the Datchet Dashers are holding their annual 20 mile marathon training run. This is an event that we put on every year for our members who are training for a spring marathon, but members of other local clubs are also very welcome to come along, and we usually have 50 – 60 runners of all standards. The run starts at 9am from our club house in Home Park in Windsor, and there is no charge – runners simply have to be at our club house, signed in and ready to go at 9am. There are changing and toilet facilities at the club house, plus plenty of free car parking.

The route is basically from Windsor to Virginia Water via Datchet & Old Windsor, a lap around Virginia Water, and then back to Windsor. The entire route is on pavements, quiet country lanes or roads & footpaths in Windsor Great Park, and it will be marshalled at all key turning points with several bikes out on course as well. There are also 4 drink stations around the route. It is not a difficult route, but it is not flat – there are climbs at around 4.5 & 8 miles, and descents at around 10 & 15 miles, with some minor undulations between these points. The first 4.5 and last 4.5 miles are flat however.

Details of how to find our club house are here: http://datchetdashers.com/contacts/  (opens new window)

London Marathon Coach

On April 22nd we are running a coach from our club house in Home Park Windsor to the London Marathon race start in Greenwich. The bus leaves the club house at 6:30 sharp, getting the runners to Greenwich in plenty of time. We currently have some spare seats, so if any of your members are interested please ask them to e-mail me (david@priddy.enta.net ) and I will reserve them a seat. The cost is £10 per seat.

Please note that the coach is to the start only – there is no return trip from the finish. Our club house is only a short walk (or hobble) from Windsor & Eton Riverside station, so most people prefer to catch the direct train back from Waterloo. There is plenty of free parking at the club house on Sundays.

David Priddy, Chairman, Datchet Dashers
