Results for Next Week
Please help me by sending in your results, for instance by filling in the tables below and
forwarding to
News@barunner.org.uk. Some events will have "Prompts" set up in
Facebook.
These allow the posting of a single image and some text and make it easy to flip
through everyone's entries.
Monthly Mile - please submit your April Mile performance for publication in the first
May digest (6th May):
Run one mile and send me your time or add the details to the prompt in
Facebook. The mile can be somebody else's formal event or even one mile within a
longer run. I'll then produce a fancy graph showing your time this month
compared to those of other people and previous runs over the last year:

Managed an easy 25min. early morning run along the beach near where
I was staying. Conditions were ideal and the sun was just coming up and
tide just starting to recede. Best run of my short trip.

...This week the B course was useable. Good path all the way and
only a couple of slippery bits where the water hadn’t fully receded.

Had planned on a very slow pace so as not to aggravate my glute
injury. However, I found myself doing 8:45 m/m pace rather than 10:30
and it fell quite easy and not too painful so maintained that to the
end. |

its far end, 137 miles from Brentford, at Digbeth Junction in Birmingham.

parkrun Review Saturday 13th April 2024
The London area enjoyed a pleasant sunny Spring morning, warm even, but
Reading parkrun was predictably cancelled yet again. Maybe, next week!
Chris Kelly (24:23) fled north and made one of his occasional visits to South
Manchester (8 times now, all in different years, this year for the weekend of
the Manchester Marathon). The parkrun at Marlow
went ahead for only the fourth time since Christmas Day - Alice and John Banks
volunteered to help.
We had 37 parkrunners this week and that doesn’t include al least three non-running
volunteers. The treasurer thanks everyone who has renewed their membership
over the last two weeks (just about everyone).
Osterley parkrun was once again the favourite this week with seven members
attending – Scott Davidson (24:51) was our quickest there this week, our newest
“500 man” Bob Bannister (50:01) enjoyed a relaxing stroll round the course which
everyone is entitled to do. The next most popular turned out to be
Southall parkrun, less than two miles away. Maria Jovani (20:49) chopped
over a minute from her previous pb there. Emma Moreton (22:51) was running
there for the first time, taking her to 24 different parkruns.
Ian Cunningham (26: 45) lowered the club course record at Jamaica Pond in
Boston – host city of a “major” marathon on Monday (Patriots Day). There
was a record attendance of 458 against a typical Saturday turnout of 100 -150.
Don’t look for a record turnout at Victoria Dock parkrun next Saturday right
next to London Marathon registration – it has been cancelled! (the parkrun, that
is). Becton is only one further stop along the DLR (and attracted twice
its usual crowd on the corresponding weekend last year – but still not that
busy).
Where are they now?
Former member Caroline Yarnell (24:21) ran her first parkrun of the year at
Kawana Surf Club on the Sunshine Coast, North of Brisbane. The course
includes a stretch along the beach but only in December and January. Tony
Wong (27:32) was also “in the field”.

I exchanged emails with Eddie who reported that following his recent
successful hospital procedure he is enjoying running again, he is hoping to get
back to the level of fitness he was at before, and he asked me to pass on his
