Reminder - Laurie Kelly Presentation/Discussion Wednesday 21st NovemberMany of us will have met Laurie at various events over the years. One of his responsibilities is as the Race Director and Time Keeper for the Surrey League Cross Country races including the men's race that we will be hosting in Cranford Park on January 12th. Laurie will talk to us about the work involved. This will be particularly useful for any members who will be helping that day (and we will be looking for many helpers!) but should be generally interesting for all members. This talk will be in the Concorde Centre and will start at 20:00 (allowing recovery time from that evenings Sportshall Session). Surrey Ladies Cross Country League - Saturday 1st December 2012Timetable Senior Ladies 12:00 (U15 and U17 Girls 13:00 U13 Girls 13:30) 26.2 RRC are hosting this match in Nonsuch Park, Cheam, SM3 8AL Directions Location of Start is close to the Mansion House in Nonsuch Park – two maps (both pdf format) are linked, one showing the location of the venue and the other the courses. Getting There by Public Transport Nonsuch Park is approx 1km from Cheam Station. Cheam village is the stopping point for buses coming from all directions, and buses also stop on the A24 London Road between Ewell Village and North Cheam Getting There on Foot By foot or on bike - there are a number of entrances to the park off the London Road, Ewell and Ewell Road, Cheam. In addition there are footpaths from Blue Gates, Beaufort Way and Ewell Bypass. A public footpath from Holmwood Road, Cheam leads across Warren Farm in Nonsuch Park. Getting There by Road There are three carparks in Nonsuch Park. Two carparks off the London Road, Ewell and a car park off Ewell Road in Cheam. Please do not use the car park adjacent to the Mansion House as this is for visitors to the Mansion House and would soon become jammed. Facilities, etc. There are NO CHANGING ROOMS. The only REFRESHMENTS available will be from a café in the park. Ladies and Gentlemen wanted... In Clara's absence Helen will be leading the Ladies team. Helen will be delighted to expect you. The club has also been asked to provide an official to be a results place holder. Please let Clara know ASAP if you are willing to do this. Left to right Roderick in Movember guise, Steve, Gary, Neil, Eddie and Ian. Piers arrived too late for the photograph but he was fitting a great deal into the weekend - he was due to run a marathon on the Sunday. Five BAAC members also ran in other parkruns last Saturday. The next club mob parkrun is likely to be at the traditional run at Bushy Park on Tuesday 25th December. That date is not a misprint - there are usually 400 or more runners out on Christmas day. Confirmation and details next month. New parkrun at Upton Court, Slough!Roderick's target of running 50 different parkruns in his first 50 parkruns is made easier and easier thanks to new parkruns being added all the time - Alice Holt last weekend and now a brand new local parkrun this Saturday 24th November at Upton Court, Slough with the usual start time of 09:00. Details http://www.parkrun.org.uk/uptoncourt/course/ Surrey League Cross Country Division 3 Roundshaw November 2012 ResultsThe second Surrey League Div 4 match took place at a new venue of Roundshaw Downs last Saturday. Once again the men's turnout was low with only seven starting and unfortunately John Coffey had to drop out with a hamstring injury. Paul Knechtl led the team home in 3rd place followed by Barry Walters 9th, Jeremy Short 14th, Richard Ruffell 25th, Graham Taylor 30th and Neil Frediani 58th. Teamwise we placed 5th on the day and remain in 4th overall position. The next match is on January 12th 2013 at Cranford Park. Barry.
